How to Style Hair With Wax or Paste?

We all need a bit of extra self-confidence and what better way than to style your hair. There are many different products on the market but I prefer to use a wax or a paste. Gel just seems to make the hair look hard. There's also the added problem of staying hard once applied and not being able to change it later on during the day.

Wax or paste is an excellent product for styling your hair. However it does need to be applied in the correct way. One thing I have found when using paste or a wax is it is best if the hair is dry before applying it. It is also recommended to only use a very small amount as too much can make the hair look greasy and clump together.

Here are the steps to applying the paste:

The first thing to do is dry the hair as much as possible. It is best to use a hair dryer rather than a towel. When using a light paste it is important the hair is really dry or you won't get that added texture and lift.
Now take a pea size amount of the styling product and rub it into the palms of your hands. Rub the paste into the hands until there is an even amount with no lumps. Don't rub it too much so that it soaks into the hands, just enough so that it evens out.
Now brush the palms of your hand across the hair from the front to the back of the head. Do this until the hair is all spiked up.
Once the product has been worked into the hair use the finger tips of both hands to position the spikes of hair how you would like it.

Once you have finished styling and are happy with the results you can apply a hairspray. This helps if the wax or paste is not a strong kind. It just gives that extra hold and can prevent the hair losing its style in the rain or by sweat.
